Scholarship Program

In support of the future Latin music makers to date, the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation has awarded 338 scholarships, investing more than $6 million over the last eight years. These scholarships allow students to attend prestigious music institutions at college/university level. The Foundation offers the following three tiers of scholarships annually: 

  • One (1) Prodigy Scholarship  co-sponsored annually by a Latin music icon: Sofia Carson (2022), Juanes (2021), Julio Iglesias (2020), Emilio and Gloria Estefan (2019), Carlos Vives (2018), Miguel Bosé (2017), Juan Luis Guerra (2016) and Enrique Iglesias (2015). This scholarship is awarded to one exceptional student of up to $200,000 toward a bachelor's degree at Berklee College of Music in Boston.

  • Three (3) Gifted Tuition Scholarships awarding up to $100,000 each to three talented music students to pursue a bachelor’s degree at the college or university of their choice.

  • Forty (40) Tuition Assistance Scholarships awarding up to $10,000 each towards a degree at the college or university of their choice.

Scholarship Eligibility:

  • Have a passion for Latin music

  • Between the ages of 17-25

  • Have financial limitations to pursue a degree in music

  • Admitted to the college or university of their choice

  • Complete an online application before the deadline 

2023 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM APPLICATION PROCESS

 The Nicky Jam Scholarship will be awarded to one (1) student who is exceptionally gifted, has a passion for Latin music and has financial limitations to start his/her education at Berklee College of Music. The four-year scholarship, which holds a maximum value of $200,000 USD, will be awarded towards a bachelor's degree in music. Students interested in applying must be previously admitted to Berklee College of Music to the Fall 2023. All applicants must upload their acceptance letter to the online scholarship application.

 Three (3) Gifted Tuition Scholarships will be awarded to talented students, who have a passion for Latin music but have financial limitations to pursue a four-year bachelor’s degree in music at the university of their choice and starting their studies in Fall 2023. This scholarship holds a maximum value of $100,000 USD each and will cover tuition costs only. Students interested in applying must be previously admitted to a four-year bachelor’s degree in music at the college or university of their choice and must upload their acceptance letter to the online scholarship application.

 Forty (40) Tuition Assistance Scholarships will be awarded to talented students pursuing or starting a degree in music in the Fall 2023 semester. This award holds a maximum value of $10,000 each for tuition costs only. This is a one-time award that will cover totally or partially the tuition amount not covered by other scholarships. Students interested in applying must be previously admitted or studying a degree in music at the college or university of their choice. This award will only cover tuition costs and will only be valid for one year of study for the following semesters: Fall 2023 and Spring 2024. All applicants must upload their acceptance letter to the online scholarship application.

Scholarship selection and awards process will be guided by the Scholarship Committee of the LGCF, under rigorous policies developed by the Foundation. The scholarship recipients will become Scholarship Ambassadors of the Foundation, joining in promoting its mission, service to communities, and furthering its good works. Applications that are late, incomplete or not within the guidelines, will not be reviewed.

Deadline to apply is April 10th, 2023 at 11:59pm ET. The Prodigy Scholarship winner will be contacted the last week of April 2023. Applicants of the Gifted Tuition Scholarship and Tuition Assistance Scholarship will be contacted during the first two weeks of July 2023 with the results. Good luck to all applicants!

Mentorship Program

As part of the awarded scholarships, recipients receive year-round mentorship from the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation team. In addition, scholarship recipients have the opportunity to partake in masterclasses and learning experiences in partnership with artists, entertainment industry professionals and sponsors as part of their curriculum and career advancement. We are committed to the growth of Latin music creators and preserving the legacy of Latin sound, as such the mentorship program supports recipients in working towards goals and introducing them to fresh perspectives from both seasoned industry veterans and peers.

Scholarship Ambassador Program

Awarded Scholarship Recipients will become Scholarship Ambassadors of the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation and join in promoting its mission, service to communities, and furthering its good works in the duration of the scholarship and after graduation. Scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to represent the Foundation on social media, at concerts, panels, events, participating in hands-on opportunities gaining exposure to the Latin music industry while serving as part of a network of Scholarship Ambassadors that create music and collaborate together.
